Hyperlapse questions

I have recently started with both timelapse and hyperlapse. Have done some hyperlapse and common for them is the speed. It's like I'm running. And if I slow down the video is lagging, but I'm guessing that is because each photo is visible for a longer time and gives some sort of a pause.
But why is the speed of the hyperlapse so fast? Is it because I move the camera to much? The greater the distance the faster speed? So the less I move the camera the slower the final clip will be?

That would seem obvious to me. If at fixed intervals, the greater the distance the camera moves, the faster the apparent speed.

You could use a faster shorter interval, to not move as much in each interval.

I'm working on a project. When I'm done, I will post it and you can see. But WayneF confirmed that the greater the movement the faster the apparent speed.
