its shell reflects color like its got oil on it, or looks like color changing paint. the green and purple colors are pretty coo but i have never seen one like this before.

any one know what it is.

he does look like a painted turtle, i have searched and searched on google trying to find a turtle with a shell like that and i cant seem to find any photos or anything of another turtle like that.

makes me wonder if its something really rare.

My first thought looking at the photo is there may be some kind of slick on his shell. Any chance of oil being in the environment where you photographed him?

Nope, no oil should be in the location, its at a well known park in the area. but you never know.

It's a painted turtle alright; one of the ways you can tell the difference between these guys and the red eared sliders is the very glossy shell of the painted turtle that you have captured so well. Red eared sliders have a much rougher exterior.
