Not bad considering you were having trouble getting focus. Did you have to crop at all or did you actually get that much of it in the frame?

man how the hell do you guys get these shots....if i get anywhere within 5 feet of a butterly..they flit away..you guys sneak up on em??..idk i'm ashamed considering i do ninjutsu,,,, :/

They have a poisonous gas/glue mixture that they let waft over the butterfly ahead of time. It kills it and preserves it's posture. Then they can take their time.:thumbup:

About 1/3 of the frame is cropped out.

Perhaps the colours look a bit intense due to the evening light.

Not all that close, about 10' (3M), any closer it would fly off & have to wait for it to land again. I was using full zoom & a Sony 1.7x tele-converter out front.
