there are several things, equally large, bright and colored that attract my eye.
There's no a clear hierarchy of what is important.

perhaps if you simplified the image, made everything but the deer a bit darker.
not a perfect solution but a suggestion.

The image needs a small adjustment for clarity, removing the tree on the left and the red grass in the front. From there I think the tonal editing gets easier.

A sharpen of the deer and a crop with a black border. Problem with animals is that they are too good at blending with the BG.

You might want to select everything around the deer and step the color back...it still needs to be natural looking but so don't go too fat but just enough that the deer stands out

Personally I liked the original the most.
