I need a backpack

(to carry my camera). Full frame body + long lens.

I would like it to have room for (2) water bottles, snacks, diapers...stuff I would need for a day hike. With easy access to the camera. Suggestions?

just make sure you carry the water bottles on the outside of the backpack. Would hate for you to have a bottle leak and your camera equipment be the recipient of water.

There's plenty of options out there from LowePro and various other makers. I have a Nikon backpack myself. The camera (without lens) is in a separate compartment near the top. Though it is smaller in total capacity than many of the other options out there.

as long as you don't need a "totally waterproof" backpack, which are expensive you options are large here.

What is your budget ?

Well I have two kids so I need to carry their junk. I would like the water bottles on the outside like a regular backpack. Budget? Idk...$100. I want something to last a long time that fits my needs. So I'm willing to pay for that.

Vanguard makes so e great bags, with easy access to the camera from the right side. You can just zip down the camera part and pluck it out without having to open the entire bag.

The one I have carries the following:

- D7000
- 18-105mm
- 10-20mm
- 35mm 1.8
- 85mm 1.8
- 70-300mm
- Kenko extension tube set
- 1 speedlight
- Cyber commander and cybesyncs
- the entry level seconic lightmeter (forgot the model no.
-15" MacBook pro
I think that should be more than sufficient space for all your goodies.

It also has a tripod pouch outside, which could hold one large bottle of water.

I'm cheap, so I purchase such things at the SA store. Usually $2 ea. Are they dedicated camera bags? No, but I can insert padding if needed.

Try to find the dimensions of the bag you are considering. Or order something and send it back if it doesn't fit. Or go to a brick-and-mortar store and try them.

Yeah I'll go in...I rarely go in (kids ) but your right, best to try it on. So funny I forget shopping in person is an option LOL

I've got this one and love it. With the waist strap on you just take the bag off your shoulders and swing it around to the front and have access to your camera.
