I need help ID'ing these plants!

I shot these during a trip to Santa Barbara last week, but I have no idea what flowers these are, can anyone help?

I'm sure there are more knowledgeable people here then I am about plants

1-Clivia Miniata
2-Strelitzia Reginae (aka Bird of Paradise)

Sorry, I don't know the common/non-latin name for the first one (if there is one).

Not really. I just enjoy growing exotic plants and I have a Clivia and a Strelitzia growing in my living room. The Strelitzia was grown from seeds planted almost 4 years ago and the plant has yet to flower. As you can see from your picture I think it is worth the wait, as the flower has quite an extraordinary shape.
