I need help to find a sturdy sport/wildlife camera

Hi i have been getting help here on this forum, and i keept my OMD-EM5 as a street camera.

But i need a sport/wildlife camera. I have been looking on D700, 7D and A77. becouse i need a fast focus camera that can handle rain and snow without problem.

do you guys have any thought about witch camera?

If you want to truly handle real rain and snow, the professional bodies will be your only option. I'd suggest looking into an older 1D series body like the 1D Mark IIn. This will give you full weather sealing, professional autofocus, and a dedicated sports/action photo for relatively cheap. Of course, you're going to need a weather sealed lens to go with that weather sealed camera... A budget would help!

Hey yeah i an not taking a trip to hold my camera under the niagra falls. I want a more compact camera that Can handle rain and snow.. My omd em5 have been in a rainstorm.. And thats not a 1D or Dx nikon. I dont have a budget. But i want one of thoes cameras and i want to know witch one is the sturdyest

Of the three you've listed, the D700 would, IMO, be the most suited, but as TheBiles indicates, a full on professional body such as the D3 or Canon 1D line would be best. Remember that NO body is truly weatherproof and if you're going to be in inclement weather for a long time, you will need a rain suit for your camera. My preference is for the Kata Cover which is all but bullet-proof. I do however keep a couple of packages of these in every camera bag I own just in case.

Ofc, But i am not going out in a storm for hours without raincover. But if i am going out to take som speedflash pictures in the rain i want my camera to handle it. As i say my EM5 Can do it.. But that camera does not have a good tracking focus for sport


i see wildlife photographers use D300s.. why are you just talking about high grade canon and nikon camera?
D300s is not the camera i want but its can hold itself through bad weather... then so can the cameras i mention.. so can someone help me or not?

I don't know too much about the other brands but I know the weather sealing on Canon cameras only gets better as you go up in models, so if my Rebel XT could survive light rains, dust storms, and a pretty severe fall from about 8ft onto rocks, I'm sure the 7D could handle it. I do know that Pentax does a very good job at weather sealing their lower end cameras. Regardless of what camera you get remember that the weather dealing is only as good as the lens you have on it and to get true good weather resistance in canon lenses you'll be looking at L series lenses.
