Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I am having a heck of a time because I completly forgot how to do someting.

I took some photos inside, in front of a huge picture window and the people became sillouttes because of the backlighting outside.

I hardly ever shoot like this but this was the one time I had to and couldn't remember what to do.

I managed to move around a different way BUT.... Please tell me what I needed to do to correct it.

Thanks,
Mike V

If you wish to photograph people against a bright background, you must either increase the front lighting level or expose for the people, not the backlighting. In the first instance, flash is often the easiest approach. In the second, you accept the fact that you will burn out the background by overexposing it.

Move in close to your subject so the background isn't visible in the view finder and the metre will give you the reading you need to correctly expose skintones. Lock those settings in the camera either by flicking it over to manual or hitting the exposure lock button and then recompose refocus and click.
