You can get a Canon 70-210 f4 for under $100.00 in better looking shape than this one.

I'm not sure that's really a comparable lens.....

I agree the quality of that lens cannot be compared to a 70 200 2.8

thanks for the samples joe. do you think 450 dollars are a good deal for the lens?

I paid $525 for mine about a year ago. It is a fairly reasonable deal. I really love my 70-210 f2.8. The APO glass is really great quality and tends to make up for the issues with AF. The AF on most of these older lenses will be worn so you will have to manual focus some or at least when you have large shifts in the focal length. But if the lens is in decent working order then I would jump on it. Those lenses are pretty popular and sell fast.

Those two are not even in the same league. APO glass is very close to L glass quality IMO.

I ended up buying the lens. And I like it so far. Here is a test shot. It is sharp on 2.8.
