First off, I dont really see the "focus on the feet". Most of the image looks out of focus to me.
Depends on the feet. It can work, but if you want to do it, get in closer on the feet. Focus means (usually, but not always) that it's the main subject of the image. If you have a shot like this that is balance top and bottom with the focus in one place, it seems odd. Get down low, go wider lens if you can, and make those feet important.... if that's what you want.
If the feet are the subject, and unless it's part of telling the story, at least have them clean
Personally, I think it makes for a pretty bad image. But it is great to add variety to a series of shots. I would highly suggest if you want focus on the feet, ALSO shoot some with focus on the face.
I like the idea of a sepia style processing, but I find yours a bit dark and lifeless. Try exposing a bit brighter. It's a kid with a smile after all, no need for too much gloom.
Other random CC: watch your backgrounds. Those power lines on one side are annoying. Don't go for a straight on angle, vary it a bit to minimize background distractions.
And as pointed out, shooting portrait mode for something like this. Or... as with my comment about where to focus... shooting portrait AND landscape. If the subject is posting and cooperative, it takes and additional 4 secs to turn the camera, focus, compose, shoot.
