I Put Away Childish Things

Can some one let me know what I am missing? i looked up William Eggleston and saw many of his photos and read an artical that said some of his photo's sold for big money, really big money! if one of us posted one of his photos on TPF for C&C, it would be torn to bits, maybe because he was a pioneer for his time I'm not sue. Please someone tell me.

I hadn't heard of Eggleston until posting this photo either; however I must admit to being quite enthusiastic about his work. Perhaps the appeal for many people is his treatment of the ordinary things we have around us all the time but which we don't really notice: we are blind, perhaps, to the banal and he opens our eyes.

It seems these things come and go, and I remember back towards the end of the 1980's it became really trendy to go out to good restaurants and order the sort of everyday food that your mum used to cook you as a child - mashed potatoes, mushy peas and ***gots, or steak and kidney pie, etc. This appeals to nearly everyone for a while and then slowly drops off again. I always order Schnitzel wiener Art when we go out for a meal, which is about as banal as it comes here in Germany, because I like it. The TPF crowd probably have more refined tastes.....

Lol, it has blanked out the word F-A-G-G-O-T, which is a very tasty meatball made from offal, and traditional in South Wales and the west of England.
