This weekend I went to bestbuy to look at cameras and I now understand the difference between an optical and digital viewfinders! I have decided that I don't like the EVF!

To the masses... What kind of viewfinder do you like and why?

Not only that but there are variants in Optical and EVF with improved versions.

Optical Pentaprism>Optical Pentamirror>EVF generation 3>EVF generation 2>EVF generation 1>Back LCD

Entry cameras like the nikon D3xxx & D5xxx use the Pentamirror which is a smaller viewfinder and darker and cheaper to produce than the brighter and generally larger Pentaprism.

I dabbled with Panasonic G1 for a month and had to go back to my D90 optical pentaprism as the EVF or some composing on back lcd drove me banana's with a headache!

Until EVF can encroach onto the Penta arena for clarity and no lag or flickering they aren't for me.

I have yet to see an EVF that I find even remotely acceptable; as far as I am concerned, the pentaprism is the only decent viewfinder system.

I bet the EVF is a pain after long periods of time. No go for me!
