Armed only with 70-200mm F2.8 I was walking around the edge of Roosevelt Island yesterday. I got the best set I could have hoped for. Great Blue Heron fishing, he caught 2 big fish, walked around and flew away. These are heavily cropped and soft due to the distance.... but I love them nonetheless. Hope you do as well.....

There is 24 in the set total if you would like to take a look, I am proud of these.....

Yes, more reach will definitely help. The good thing is that Herons will let you get fairly close.

Looked at flickr also and again the BIF or taking off shots are really nice.

Awesome shots Steve.. I must agree that you've got some great stuff on your flickr. I'm crazy about horses and just love the way you've photographed them, specially the combination with the little girl. Wish you get the Tammy soon. Best of luck.

I have to say 2014-05225 is my favorite. It has wonderful composition and I like how the scene is defined but blurred so you focus enough but know the story.

Some darn good shots there. #6 I really go for, nice wing spread and action. The fish catching is great as well. That lens will make a huge difference Hope you get it soon as well. Jaca is having a blast with it and getting some excellent shots. You will love it.

News on the new Tamron- When Sony announces the new A77 II at the end of this week expect to hear about a release for the new lens. I hear Tamron wants to be sure it's compatible with the new camera. Sony owns a piece of Tamron though, you would think they would have had the details worked out months ago....
