Your assumption is correct . It had me laughing when I first attached it to the body. It could quite possibly be bigger than both my 18-55mm and 50-200mm combined.

Needs to actually fulfilled by Amazon, not another vendor through Amazon (unless they are authorized).

when I checked they told me Amazon was.

I was about to purchase a 70-200 through Amazon and it was "fulfilled".

When I called Amazon they called Tamron and said that the seller was not a dealer.

I asked Amazon if they take down these listings after they find this out and they said no.

So I don't know where they get these lenses from, but Tamron will not honor them.

And this is coming from a conversation with Tamron directly after my Amazon phone call.

Very interesting. I received the pamphlet for the warranty, but I haven't done anything with it yet. I will have to check it out when I get home.

Thanks Amber! That is definitely one of my favorites. By default, my favorite has to be the one of my wife and son, but #4 was my favorite result. I wish I could have gotten them to look like they were having more fun, but of coarse they just wanted to get on the next ride.
