I think I broke a rule or two with this railway shot

I liked your photo instantly, bean, but then I only have these amateur eyes, see - and I first saw only part of it on my screen, i.e. the photo with the full telephone pole but some of the tracks still cut off by the bottom end of my monitor. That's how I liked it instantly. More contrast (like in your edited version) adds to my liking it.

What rules - in my opinion - you had broken was: you climbed up towards the tracks!
THAT is something so very strictly forbidden in my country....!!!!! ;)
 
Haha... First of all... nice new avatar LaFoto. Second of all... technically speaking there are some basic design rules that they teach you if you take any photography classes. I'm not sure how much the people around here use/know/care about them though. I find them helpful but as with everything in are sometimes rules can be broken. Third, I'm not even sure if these rules where what bean was talking about or not. For all I know he could have speed on the way to the tracks and then trespassed to get to them. :p
