I Thought Retirement Meant You Got to Stop Working!

It's started. Harvest time from now till Fall. Yesterday was first pressure canning day. Earlier in the week I did a batch of water-bath pickles but yesterday I got out the big guns.

One peach tree was ready and we had already picked plums. Made the plum sauce the day before and canned it yesterday (10 1/2 pints); then processed the peaches and more plums and canned 15 pints.

Today it's back to pickles.

I'm already tired.

Mmmm that looks good!!! Like Jeff mentioned above the worst thing about retirement is weekends are just another day. LOL

Mmm, it'll be worth it.

Most of it get's given away (family), but we do keep some to ourselves. I got a little sad yesterday listening to my wife run down the list of everyone getting a jar of that plum sauce and realizing that left me with two jars and I know she's going to think of someone else that gets one. We held back a jar of the plums from the group yesterday and just finished dessert of pound cake with butter and cooked plums -- exquisite.
