... well by the end of the day, my camera and I were both covered in dirt. A local forum had a dirt bike track day this past Sat and a photographer friend and I were out there taking pictures. He was using a Canon D1M3 bursting at 10fps, awesome shutter sound BTW. My D7000 did really well although I couldn't take nice sequence shots as he did. It was my first time out there and getting some motion on those wheels while still maintain sharpness is not easy. Based on my pictures, I obviously couldn't do it. I need more practice.... :blushing:

Some pix...

1st and 2nd is the best. Taking pictures of people's back doesn't seem to look nice.

1 and 2 are the best - it would have been good to have seen more wheel in no 1 and his face in number 2, but otherwise these two are pretty good. I concur about rear facing shots

These are good! I shoot a lot of Motocross in my area, check my race galleries at dafshots.com. It looks like you know the sport - that is a huge advantage in getting the "sick" shots! I would disagree about the back shots. While normally a back shot would not be desirable, in Motocross they are. The quick turns, exploding berms and clouds of roost are awesome shots - coming or going. Maybe only appreciated by those that participate in the sport. ;)

You done good! :)

Thanks
Daf

Thanks for all the comments. =)

Thanks! Yeah I ride dirt a bit but nothing hardcore like these guys. You're definitely making good use out of that D40 and assuming the 80-200? The colors and clarity are just awesome on your site. Yeah the back shots are not desirable in people photography, but for motorsports they have their place.

1 & 2 are the best, I would maybe try adding a little bit of shallow depth of field but hey thats just my style there really good for picture of obbjects going very fast

Did you happen to get any panning shots?

Thanks!

Ballistics, these are panning shots. I just set the shutter speed high to make sure the pictures are sharp and clear because I don't have the technique yet to pan and still have a clear subject.

To me, clear = I can see sharp texture and stitching on rider's clothing at 100% zoom. :)

Panning isn't easy. It's definitely something that takes a bit of practice. These are good shots too btw.
