For those who are interested, I did a lot of editing on this image.
First denoised everything.
First I selected the horse in front and put that on a new layer.
Then I reselected and added the second horse and the foreground and put that on a new layer (lots of feathering on the junction between foreground and background (where shadow started)
Then I reselected and inverted the selection to bring the upper part and the background onto its own layer.

The background layer got darkened a bit and lens blurred a bit
The foreground and horses got smart sharpened. (and warmed)
The front horse got more intense sharpeneing and local contrast enhancement to make that pop out more. (and warmed)
Then merged all to a new layer on top.
Added a new layer in overlay mode and darkened to the top two corners.

This one looks mostly like a snapshot to me. Nothing to really capture interest. The pose each horse is in does not seem appealing. I also think the harsh lighting then the shadow behind does not really work. I'm sure you don't agree just my opinion.

I think it may have looked better if the horse was in the middle of the frame rather than in the bottom third. Also I probably would like it better if the horse on the left was in the frame more or completely out of it.

They don't look particularly well cared for, but the shot is interesting.
