Ideas for "Identity"

My daughter has to create a photo on the subject of IDENTITY.
My guidance is being questioned so I thought I would see if anyone else could come up with an idea.

What are her likes? Hobbies? After-school activities? What she enjoys doing is part of her identity.

Identity as membership in a group, or identity as referencing the origins? Or Identity as a collection of attributes that collectively "define" the person?

How about a close up image of a thumb print? Maybe take a really clean glass and put a nice big thumbprint on it, then get a shot of the print. Maybe couple that with a lip print along the edge of the glass.

Might be a little mature for your daughter, but just what your post says, you really are a number in today's Western society. You are your Social Security number, your driver's license number, your credit cars numbers, your student ID number, etc, etc, etc. You and everyone else have become a number.

Some good ideas have been posted.

But all I can think is that, when my kids were in school, if they asked me for advice or input on a project and then starting rejecting said advice or input out of hand, my typical response was, "Ah, sorry. I thought you actually WANTED my guidance. Well, good luck with that, then."

I'd imagine your parents would say "yes". Likely while also complaining about the downfall of society and simultaneously yelling at the neighbors kids to get off their lawn.

The thumb-print idea reminds me that once I had to do a "self-portrait" assignment for a photo class. I submitted about six prints, in none of which you could see my face. The only one that actually showed the front of my head was taken at a slow shutter speed while I shook my head back and forth. The statement I was required to submit with the prints consisted entirely of questions. I had fun and the professor liked it.
