Today I got a surprise package from Paul C Buff. I didn't expect it till next week but I walk in home, and 2 boxes lie there, one I knew was the Glidecam HD-2000 and then I noticed a a rather large box. Figured it had my lightstands inside but thought the packaging was a bit too large.
I am using some heavy strobes, White Lightinig x1600's and one x800. They're quite heavy and built like a rock and much better than the ABs with 3 years more warranty on them from the same maker: Paul C Buff. So to sppport my strobes I needed something more beefy and these....don't dissapoint!
Well, here's what it looked like before taking them out: ****IPHONE PIX****
Then I realized exactly whey the box was so big:
Doesn't tell you much? Well here are what my "heavy duty" lightstands looked like prior to the new Paul C Buff stands: they both aren't meant for studio strobes to be honest. They'll do fine with speedlights and that's about it. Although B is in the $30 range and is much stronger than A.
Still can't tell the difference?? Wel ok:
Either way, I'll still need some sand bags for those windy days. But these are solid as it can be for studio lights. They were $69 each. I didn't get the air cusioned version for $99. They stand 13 ft tall which is pleanty for me.
Hope this helped some of you interested in lightstands in the near future. Make a good investment and they'll last a long time. I threw away 2 so called "heavy duty" within 4 months.
