It is just Java. Sun has a java client for Linux (I have installed it my self!)
Besides in the chat room thread the info for the IRC room is there use your fav IRC client to access it!

Doesn't work.
I get a coffee cup to stare at for a while which means the Java Applet isn't compatible with Mac Java.
After a bit of playing I got a message saying it is only compatible with IE and Netscape.
A bit more playing and my Mac tells me that the Permission isn't secure which means it could be bad news.
But what the heck...
Eventually I get the basic chat box up.... but it's unable to connect to the server.
Carry on without me, I'm off to waste my time somewhere else.

That means finding a mIRC client that will talk between my Mac and the obviously shoddily programmed PC server - and to do that I need all the info to make the connection. Where do I get that from, exactly?
I remember the last time we tried setting up a chat room. You could all see me but I couldn't see any of you - or what you were saying.
Life's just too short for me to waste my time trying to get into a system set up by someone who has never heard of Macintosh or UNIX.
