Surfing various photography sites tonight and I came across this. Might be helpful to some.

Don’t buy a digital camera before Thanksgiving if you can wait!

The problem with this is that if I wait until the end of Nov, why not wait until the end of Feb (new models introduced at the big photo/video convention), and then there's the summer mark down, and the next pre-Christmas season, and on, and on.... No matter when you buy your new digital camera, it's going to be worth 1/2 as much or less one year later.

Personally I'm waiting until every manufacturer has a good, full featured digital SLR out for under $500 (I think it'll be less than 2 years). Then I will dive back into digital after a 10 year hiatus.

I know it's hard to know when is the good time to buy. It's similar to buying a computer system.

But I think if you know now what you want to buy you might want to put it off until that time. Also it might just be for cameras that are already in the market which now have a price of say $700... this price could go down by Thanksgiving.
