The start: Monday, May 1 - Amtrak's birthday (May 1, 1971).

The end:
Amtrak's Illinois Zephyr leaving Galesburg, Illinois on May 6, 2017 after delivering me back to where I had started a 6 day, 5000 mile loop on 4 Amtrak trains on May 1 by boarding Amtrak's Southwest Chief bound for Los Angeles, California Wednesday morning.

In LA Wednesday night I got the Sunset Limited to Alpine, Texas. From Alpine I rode the Texas Eagle to Chicago where I caught the Illinois Zephyr.

It will take me a few weeks to put together an edited video of the entire trip.
I shot 1363 video clips over the days of the trip.
Stay Tuned.

General Electric Genesis P42-DC diesel-electric for both motive power (direct current for the traction motors) and alternating current head end power (or HEP) for the attached rail car's 'hotel' power needs.

Back in the day General Motors Electro-Motive Diesel engines were used.

I left home Monday May 1, 11:00 AM and got back this morning, May 7 at 12:15 AM.

I drove to Galesburg, IL, and rode Amtrak to LA, Tucson, El Paso, San Antonio, Ft. Worth/Dallas, Little Rock, St. Louis, Chicago, and back to Galesburg.

Don't worry. There's no hurry.
