I'm just testing the waters and seeing if anyone is interested in what I've got to offer. I'm not looking to sell, but trade for a decent digital medium format rig. I'm interested in phase one, pentax, mamiya, but let me know what you have if you're looking to switch.

My Gear

Nikon D800e + 3 batteries
Nikon 24-70 2.8
Nikon 70-200 2.8 vr II
Nikon 28 1.8
Nikon 50 1.8d
Nikon 60mm 2.8d
Nikon sb910

I have had all of this for just under a year and I've just been using an olympus omd em1 more and just picked up an x100s. If you have any questions, please ask.

Thanks

I'll trade you my D7000 WITH a grip for your D8000 :)

sure man, let me just... wait...

Whoops, I meant D800, not 8000. But still, let's make it happen. We can trade my siggy for your 24-70, as well. :)

I'll trade you a D7000 (mine is better than his) for just the D800 ;)

Well, as long as we're being unrealistic, I'd happily trade you my Tamron 70-200 NON-VC for the Nikon VII version. Heck, I'd even throw in my Nikon 18-55 lens and $100! How can you resist?!?
I'd trade you every piece of photography equipment I own for that whole setup, but it still wouldn't be equitable. :D

My guess is you'd be better off SELLING your equipment and then using the proceeds to fund the MF bundle. I just can't imagine there's a HUGE pool of MF shooters out there looking to trade THEIR equipment for a DSLR, and of the ones that ARE out there, the chances of hooking up with them are pretty small. And of THOSE, then you have to hope that YOUR setup is what they want. Might happen, and like you, I'd certainly offer it up as a first step, but I'd say be prepared to just decide how committed you are to the switch, because selling the current gear is probably going to be the way to go.

I am looking at what I could describe as one hell of a set up, yet if someone swaps you will likely only get the camera for it all. I couldn't do it

Greetings,

I have to admit I'm a little curious here, what is it your current setup isn't doing for you and what leads you to believe that medium format will solve those issues? Considering the expense of a good medium format I guess that's the first question I'd be asking myself before looking to upgrade.

I love the nikon, i just dont want all that weight and money sitting in something I don't use as often as I used to. I usually use it for jobs that I could easily use my fuji on and it's a small fraction of the weight.

And for those thinking I'm looking for a top gear MF digital camera, I'm not. The new pentax 645d is sitting at $7k for the body, so it's not far off.

Ok, I guess I'm a little confused. A Pentax 645d weighs roughly about 3 lbs, a D800 without the lens weighs a little less than 2 lbs so I don't see that your saving yourself much in the weight department, if anything the medium format is going to be bigger/heavier than what you already have.

true. my first thought was to switch over to fuji or even leica but then I started looking at MF. If i dont end up with that then itll be with fuji for that reason. I'm just testing the waters right now and seeing whats out there, so you could say that i may end up contradicting myself with reasoning.

Ultimately, I just want to shoot something new and I'd rather either go MF or go fuji/leica.

Ok, well seems like a lot of money to invest if your motivation is based primarly on "shooting something new". But in the end it is your money, so I will wish you well.

First post didn't show up for some reason . I have a fuji x-e2 with kit 18-55 and a 35mm. Trade for your Nikon with 50 mm lens?
