What's new

I'm kinda on the fence with this one. Open to suggestions. Macro

disclaimer: Natural light diffused - I was in the woods. Sat on the subject for over 7 hours waiting for that light, happened at about 2:10 pm, I happened with it.

I would argue that you need to go out and get yourself a flash - quickly ;).
7hours wait for enough light in a wooded area is a heck of a long wait over one subject which is a living creature (ok granted it probably didn't want to go anywhere far from its web). I think a flash and a diffuser for the flash (you can custom make them out of mostly anything there are loads of google guides on this topic) would seriously let you not only expand your shooting time, but also let you get a much more high quality light source for this kind of work.

Yep, you're right about that.
I do enjoy my time in the woods though. It allows me to see other things and get ideas for the next shoot.
No doubt I'm doing it the hard way.

Hey look, thank you for your input. I'll put it to good use, I'm sure.

Nice shots! As mentioned.. a flash and diffuser! Would help to bring out the detail and colors better! Good DOF also! Would have loved to have seen a 360 series.... frontal, back, face, sides, even rear if possible. Ignore those who dislike the noble arachnid... they are knaves! :)
