I'm no landscape photographer....

I'm not a landscape photographer, but I couldn't pass up this picture yesterday.

I just so happened to have my camera with my wide angle lens in the vehicle with me.

No HDR, I adjusted in LR% until it looked the way I saw it naturally.

There were storm clouds behind, above, and to the sides so that's why it seems dark in the top corners.

I think I did decent.

I think I shot a little bigger aperture than most landscapers.

Cool, I just kind of told my wife to pull over and went with it!

It was a seat of the pants shot while headed to church.

I am sorry but you don't not qualify as a landscape photographer but only if you no longer take a landscape shot for as long as you shall live. If you have a problem doing so, we kindly ask you to donate all your gear to an active TPF Member. Nice Dramatic clouds, Nice shot.

Lovely photo. A general rule with landscapes is...don't put the horizon in the middle of the photo. I think this particular photo would work especially well if you cut out some of the foreground and had a higher percentage of the photo as sky. The detail and power of the clouds is part of what is so successful about this photo and they also add perspective (which is usually why we want some foreground action in there).

Although I try not to crop, I did crop for this image. I had some power lines in the top of the image, but I actually just successfully removed them.

I was trying to crop to keep my horizon more towards the bottom third, but i think it still works being closer to the middle.

You should do what you want with your shots according to what you think looks right. The ROT is only a guideline. Your shot here is really very good for someone not really a landscape photographer...well!you just passed that line head on. Congratulations.
