...conversations with my 81 year old co-worker here in the office often go like the one I just had: Ed: Boy it sure is getting cold out Me: Yeah, but it's just because of the wind. It's actually 45 degrees right now. Ed: It's cold because of the wind. Boy, without that wind it wouldn't be bad. Me: ....yeah....you're right. Hehe...I guess it's good that most of the time I'm patient, cuz this is how most conversations go!
I hope when I'm old and talk in circles I have someone as patient to listen to me as you are I took to the boys to our local Veteran's home with their scout pack and Chris and I were talking to a gentleman who worked as a prison guard during WWII. Well, he repeated himself quite a bit and Christopher said to me "Mom, why did he keep saying the same things?" when we left. I told him that's part of getting older and he said to me "That's okay Mom, when you're old I'll still listen to you" .... what a kid
Today's walking in circles conversation: Ed: I'm gonna run uptown and get a cup of coffee. Would you like anything? Me: No thanks, I'm good. Ed: Is Becky going to be getting the mail today? Me: I don't believe so. I'll get it when I go to take Maya out. Ed: Should I stop and get it? Me: No, that's alright. I'll get it when I walk the dog at lunch. Ed: Ok. I guess you can just get it when you take the dog out anyway, can't you? Me: Yes, Ed. I can.
