Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
hi i use a nikon d40x i have had it for years and was wondering if there is a way to check how many pics i have taken?

Would the camera's quality deteriorate after taking so many pictures?

If you make an image as a JPEG, don't edit it, or save it for the web, you can use an EXIF reader like Opanda to see the shutter actuation count.

Here is a screen shot of what it looks like. You have tobe in the Opanda Advanced mode and youwill need to scroll down to the Maker notes section.

No, the camera's quality won't deteriorate after taking so many pictures, unless normal routine maintanence and cleaning has been neglected.

The shutter of the camera has a finite lifetime. Nikon estimates the shutter life of a D40x at about 50,000 shutter actuations. When a shutter dies, it can be replaced and the camera can continue being used.

Current shutter replacement cost for a D40X is about $300.
