Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Not a traditional portrait, and there is at least one thing wrong with it that I don't like, which is the shadow on the right side of his nose. This was a product of the orientation of my umbrella, but I hope it doesn't kill the shot. Any other glaring mistakes that pop out at anyone? Like I said, it wasn't the most "set-up" of portraits, but I'd still like feedback on things to watch out for.

Info: 5D @ 1/160s, 35mm, f/4.5, ISO 100

Thanks fo' lookan.

Skin seems underexposed, could be a white balance issue?

Not sure. lol

I like it - I don't mind the shadow beside his nose at all. I personally like using shadows, and I'm impressed with how you were able to shadow a good amount of one side of his face while keeping both eyes lit.

I do however get a bit distracted by the hint of the background that shows up (upper right corner).

I like it,
on thing that bothers me is the suit blending with the back ground

Noted. The reason I chose to bring out the shadows as much as I did was because he's known as a shirt and tie where he works (Evening Operations manager at a local grocery store lawlz.) But I did pretty much eliminate his jacket from the image.

And yeah, VI. I noticed that as well. Didn't feel like waiting for CS3 to boot, so I just left it and exported from Lightroom. :drool2:

Geaux- I just got this 5D thinger and I haven't figured out the best way to set the white balance yet. (The lady I bought it from didn't have the manual with her other than the spanish version) So it's still set to auto, I did however adjust it in LR so that it looked good to me, but I'm not sure of my monitors calibration sometimes.

Studio7Four- Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't even notice it in the background. I don't recall where I was placing my light and in what direction it was firing to get both of his eyes lit. I want to say that I was shooting the flash away from him, but into an umbrella that his face would have been turned roughly 25 to 30 degrees away from the light.

WB is indeed off with it being underexposed. I probably would have raised the aperture on it so it's a sharp all the way around. It could be a good stock photos with some adjustments. Reshoot if possible

I dunno....the high camera angle makes his forehead look enlarged, and his chin look weak...I see one ear on the lighted side, no ear on the dark side of the moon...his necktie goes out of focus quite rapidly...and he appears to be just sort of floating in a sea of blackness--or maybe it's outer space....I dunno...I would call it impromptu, and unconventional...I think if maybe this had the name of some famous photographer underneath it, people might say things like "Ohhhh, I like how he's approached this so unconventionally!" but otherwise, I don't think that "most people" would like this shot all that much.

So basically he just needs to add a big obnoxious "oh hey tyler" watermark?

This might look good in b/w with the forehead cropped. Can I edit it?

I like how the suit totally blends into the background, as well as his hair and shadow on the face.
He looks very sad and vulnerable in the shot.

Really digging the edit over the original. Great job white
