Indigo Bunting, jealous Warbler, Pileated Woodpecker

[matthewo]

I know I know a jealous warbler is not a bird, I just called him that cause he came and gave me the eye when I was playing shooting the indigo.

Wow, that last pileated woodpecker shot is just outstanding! I've only ever gotten one decent picture of them; they're so flighty!

My favorite is.... I can't choose! I can't even pick a least favorite. Lol! They really are all great in their own way. A couple questions. One, were you right on top of the pileated in the fourth one? Were these shot with your 200-400 f4?
I was considering getting the 500mm f4, but I'm now thinking of going with the 200-400 f4. Any thoughts or opinions n which way you would go first?

All were with the 500mm f4 vr and 1.4 converter.

That is my only lens over 200mm.

The 500mm is better optically then 200-400mm but the 200-400 is a nice zoom range. Im happy with the 500mm. The rare amount i use it without the tc blows your socks off

oh and yeah, I was pretty close up on a raised boardwalk probably 8 feet or so above him and 20-30 feet back I guess.

Fantastic as always 5 and 3 are freaking awesome...

What everyone else said, except I'm going with #4 because it plainly shows that huge grub in his mouth.

Nice set.
