It happens to be attached to a Fuji HS 25 EXR , going at a rebate price at Costco, while they are still available!

Yeah, and it will stay attached to the HS 25 EXR. . . it's not a DSLR, it's not a detachable lens. . .

Line the branches with breadcrumbs prior to shooting? I need to invent some bird spray. . . hunters have it for other animals, lol.

Mix bird seed with peanut butter and smear it on branches or into bark. Works great.

It's a lot cheaper to learn how to hunt so that you can get closer to the animals you want to shoot, than it is to buy 500mm or 600mm or 800mm lenses to try to bridge the distance. Learn to use bait and blinds and even recordings of their calls to bring them close, then shoot with "normal" length lenses.

This is the part where I put you on ignore. No offense, but I really don't need or want this sort of thing in my forum experience here at TPF.

This past summer I was going on a day trip with some friends up north, and wanted to be able to take better pics, so I bought one similar to the one you listed for like $260. I thought, $260-and it sort of looks like an SLR.. it should work.

Spent the whole day taking photos, different angles and such. When I got home I was SO disappointed! The pictures were so flat and the colors were just horrid. I brought it back the next day and said I would wait to get a dSLR--and that is just what I did -last weekend got a new to me dSLR but it is a used one.


Here are the photos from that fake slr looking camera think it was FujiFlim too... I think they are just flat....

I agree, and once it gets above subzero around here I will do that... I can handle sitting outside at 30 degrees, but anything below 20 with a windchill.. ehhh naw.. LOL

I agree, and once it gets above subzero around here I will do that... I can handle sitting outside at 30 degrees, but anything below 20 with a windchill.. ehhh naw.. LOL

You know, I never thought of that... I would have to pick up a remote for it to work I think, but that actually is a possibility. I could just set it up on the branch I hope they sit on, and wait inside to click it. I think I would have to figure out how to make sure my camera doesn't recompose and refocus once I am inside however. Something for me to read on. I think with my camera I can get a wireless remote or the cable.. I wonder however if the wireless would work from any angle rather than straight on to the front. Ahh more research!

Set up on a tripod, focus on the branch, then turn off autofocus so it can't go hunting when the time comes. Yes, use a remote shutter trigger - they're really inexpensive these days.

No I am!! When I started the post it was more about using close up filters because I was reading about them. I was also curious about them in the aspect of close up photography come the spring summer with insects. The post just ended up going down the same path as before I fear. I apologize if it seems that I am not paying attention, because I really am. I think that I have been forming different questions that just keep ending with the same result. Curse of being new I fear. Sorry.
