There is a place on Grand Isle (Champlain Islands, Vermont), where you can find birdhouses growing wild. One could think of them as an invasive species, I suppose, and they did seem to affect almost every tree in this forest. However, this outbreak seems to be confined to one corner of the Island, so perhaps this is just a local phenomenon. However, it appears that this invasive species already displaced one local population - the mosquito clouds that are pretty common elsewhere, were almost non-existent here. Hmmmm....
