IR Converted Camera

Looking at buying an IR converted camera. I found a Full Spectrum D80, I loved my old D80 without the conversion. I have some questions, which I've had trouble finding clear info online to.

1. Can I shoot without lens filter?
2. Do I need to buy lens filters? Which one and how will each one affect the photo?
3. Any concerns I should know about?

1. Yes
2. Depends on what nanometer your conversion is. In the shorter ranges, a color filter might affect the outcome. Once you get higher than 720nm or so, filters become useless.
3. Look into hotspots of the lenses you have.
