I like it but it has a surreal quality to it. Why is that?

Interesting. A little hard to tell what I was looking at without the topic.

I wonder what would happen if you cropped it in more so that we focused on just one iris and one corresponding shadow. (might be challenging)

Oftentimes strength in photography framing is about having less. Which is interestingly the same as writing. So many parallels in art.
