Is it time to ditch my DSLR and go mirrorless?

Wow that GM1 is TINY!! I'm just not sure that I can deal without a viewfinder. I'm so use to bringing the camera up to my eye. I thought about getting a used Panasonic GX7, they are pretty cheap on eBay and still very good cameras.

I am thinking of eventually getting the LX100 or DLUX1 Typ109 (depending on budget).
fast lens, viewfinder, and very small. The ergonomics are just brilliant.
I don't like carrying big cameras. Only reason I have a D810 is because I need it to get the work done.

The LX100 is tempting, but I don't like the 16:9 viewfinder. Seems weird to me, but that's just me. Haha.

I also have flip-flopped between mirrorless and DSLR over the past few years.

I am now settled on a full frame rangefinder camera with 2 lenses and a point and shoot as a backup - on recent trips they have served me perfectly well.
Granted, I won't be getting those shots of the Serengeti lions, but I also won't be breaking my back carrying all that gear. If I did ever go on safari, I would rent equipment now, rather than buy it - because those would be rare shots for me.

It helps if you know what type of shots you want to get, and the places you will be.

I had a 70-200 and all I took shots of were birds in my back yard and a trip to the zoo. Ho hum, $1500 for that wasn't worth it really.

I'm going to supplement my D600 with an X30 or something similar soon.

I have a fuji x30.
Love it.
And i wouldn't swap my fuji xt1 for anything else atm.

Switching to mirrorless has been on my mind a lot lately and looking for advice on what direction I should go. I don't do photography professionally, it's just a hobby.

Started with a D60...there wasn't really any mirrorless cameras out then I don't think and then the D7000 came out and used that to the point buttons starting falling off, grip peeling off, etc. Then I decided it was time to go full frame and got the D610 which I really love using, it's a fantastic camera. But lately, I don't feel like bringing it with me anymore..just tired of the weight and bulkiness.

I was at an event last weekend with the D610 and 70-300 VR and half way through the day, I ended up bringing it back to the car because I couldn't stand the weight anymore. I don't know how you guys do it with the D800/d4 + 70-200. I have much respect for photographers that carry that much weight for 8 hours. Its just extremely uncomfortable for me and because of that, I makes me not want to photograph anymore.

I can deal with my D610 and a small prime like a 35 and 50...but it's not ideal for everything.

If I go mirrorless, I know I'd be sacrificing AF, ISO and battery performance..but I think its something I can deal with. Many have with the XT-1, X-Pro and XE-2.

I'm just really lost right now..today there are sooo many options when it comes to cameras. I really want to enjoy photography, not have it become a PITA.

I swapped all my canon slr gear for fuji mirrorless gear...xt1 and fuji lenses etc.
Best thing i ever did.
The image quality is outstanding, colours are sublime and it weighs about half the canon gear.

I am more interested in the rumors that Fuji is working on medium format, though, and wants to introduce it in 1-2 years.

IMHO lenses of this high quality and price are a bit wasted on a small APS-C sized sensor (that very likely costs below 100$ per piece).

Especially the 56mm f1.2 APD is way silly. Now thats a lens I would like to get for small format (85mm f1.2 APD) or even better medium format (110mm f1.4 APD, if it is a 44x33mm sensor - I would guess f1.2 would finally be a bit too large for a 44x33mm sensor).

Of course if reducing the weight was your prime directive, Fuji X is a pretty good solution.

Bet it'd be expensive though.
