Do you own the copyright to that photo? TPF doesn't let us post photos we don't own.

Out-of-focus can not be 'fixed' with image editing. The photo can be improved somewhat, but only somwewhat.

He looks like he has been not very well cut out of a photo and put on a white background.

What exactly would you like to see 'fixed'.

yes, this is a pic of my grandfather..we had to take a pic of the original on my grandmother's wall bc she has the only copy of it. I did remove the grey background bc i wanted to add a back & white American waving flag in the background and a fire truck. I was wanting to fix the white flare at the bottom.
here is the original if that helps

Scan the original photo rather than taking a picture of it.

I would but its on a large canvas and um we are not allowed to even touch that photo.. My grandfather has passed away and my grandmother will not let anyone even touch it for any reason at all! :( I was just hoping to fix it up so the rest of us could have a pic to remember him as well

Well for one you'll want to re-take the shot...without the monster glare at the bottom.

Get a good straight-on shot that's well lit but doesn't have the flash glare on it. All you can really do after that is sharpen it up as best you can or maybe try to add details manually (if you're artistically gifted)

Then best to get a tripod and take a shot of the picture head on with diffuse lighting to avoid that flash flare.

Here is how i would do it..

I wont mind the hug :)

Also, I don't deserve all that.. it is just a small edit on photoshop. If you want I can giude you with the steps I have done so you can make it alone next time.

Sameer9, that is some nice work removing the glare and overlaying the flag. It's nice to see both good information coming out of these forums as well as support on a project like this.
