So I have this pretty friend that wants me to take photographs of her. The pictures will be implied nudes. I think I want to set a tripod in her room, facing her closet. She wants to just try on a bunch of her clothes and I want it to be fun, candidish.

So I ask, would it look good that all the pictures are taken from one angle on the tripod or should I hold the camera and move around a little bit?

Thanks for your help! This forum has been very helpful for me.

Personally, a full set of pictures all taken from the same vantage point is going to get very boring real quick. You don't need to have every picture varied, but if you can find maybe three good, strong vantage points and do about a third of the shots from each, it will keep the entire set more interesting.

certainly move around. And keep in mind your background and lighting as you move.

Why not do both? Try one set with the camera in a fixed position, and have sequences of her reaching in to the closet, pulling something out, deciding, and changing, and after that do another series where you move about. As mentioned, lighting, backgrounds and general composition may be tricky, so I would spend at least a few minutes in rehersal.

how is trying on clothes implied nude? =\

i don't have any experience in nude photography so yaaa... just wondering

Thank you guys. I was thinking the same thing. I just needed clarification. @mangtarn she'll be TRYING on clothes.

Certainly move around unless the vantage point expresses some specific concept, if it's a series about changing clothes, kind of an interesting idea, then you'd want to focus on the juxtaposition between the model and the closet where the clothes are.

Try thinking not only in what will look "cool" or "good" but also in what concepts you want to communicate.

Wow, this sounds a lot like a new Hollywood movie montage sequence....camera set up and "aimed" on a tripod...pretty woman, trying on outfit after outfit...hmmm...

Doesn't sound stupid at all! I like Derrel's suggestion of a montage sequence... Have fun with it! I would definitely bring a tripod and do a set from one perspective, and move around for others to add interest if you feel you need to.
