Is TPF 'the Internet'?

From the article "The Most Obnoxious Starbucks Drink Orders", as seen on Huffington Post The Most Obnoxious Starbucks Drink Orders. See, I did internet research!!!!

Well, we've pretty much beaten The_OP into temporary submission, I think...I can detect a faint pulse, though, so he's not dead yet by a long shot...the OP is one tough S.O.B. though, and has endured much tougher battles than this little skirmish!!!

Just as an aside, one thing we have not brought up, at all, is the example of "lurkers". I think most of us here, as "TPF junkie", and as "I spend too much of my life on TPF!" rank members, tend to forget the concept of the so-called lurkers, or as TPF calls them, "guests". The people who are not registered members, but who nevertheless come here and read the posts.

Lurkers or guests are "using the internet", and are here in HUGE numbers, far,far outnumbering registered,logged-in TPF members. TPF threads on many topics turn up well-placed in search engine results, and as such, TPF posts and the discussions that ensue often become on-line resource materials.

Right now, there are 5 members and 7 guests reading this very thread. I think maybe we need to consider not only how we deal with "our family" members, but also how we appear to "our guests". If rude behavior and "RTFM,noob!" are the standards we should aspire to, I don't want to be a part of that kind of a forum. We need to strive to create a place where we can convert "lurkers" and "guests" into actual,registered, participating members.

Just another aside about lurkers. Not all of them are unregistered guests. I'm a serial lurker myself. I check the active topics several times a day and research information I'd like to know. I usually don't log on unless I want to post something or if an image doesn't show unless you're logged on, so most of the time I'm a "guest".

Also, there seems to be a feeling on this thread by some that the choice is to ask questions here or do an internet search first. You don't need the whole internet, just search this site. This site has most of the answers you want, you just use the sites' search feature. How many times does a soccer mom/dad ask what's the best lens for rec, travel, high school sports, etc. I've answered a few lately (which I don't mind doing) that were basically the same question. I just did a site search for sports lenses and got 11 pages of results. I think you pick up more information by doing some of your own research first, then ask if you still have questions.

Ummm, Hamlet? There is no "anti-question" TPF lobby.

There isn't? Ahh crap. Ok, well need to get on the phone and cancel that T-shirt order then. Really wish you people would make up your minds.. lol

First free Robes
and now T-Shirts ?

Well we were going to get T-shirts.. till somebody burst that bubble. I mean not much point in having a Official TPF Anti-Question Lobbyist T-shirt if there is no TPF Anti-Question Lobby. {sigh}

What?!! You guys didn't get a free robe?! That's too bad! They're so soft and warm. I feel like I'm floating on a cloud.
