What's new

It's alive!

Seeing as it looks like no-one here remembers me a quick biog by way of introduction.

UK based. Born in 1953 - you work it out.
Studied microbiology but realised it wasn't for me. Did various other things including being a Fraud Investigator for the Government.
Attended Bournemouth & Poole College of Art 1979 - 82 and acquired a Dip A D (old vocational Degree). Nick Knight was in my year.
Worked most of the 1980's, first as an assistant, then as a freelance photographer. I started in Advertising but moved to Editorial.
Photographed the rich and famous and had my pictures published world wide.
Moved from London to the sticks when the crash came at the end of the 1980's and lots of photographers went bust.
Qualified as a teacher and taught Photography at several Colleges, even setting up Departments, designing darkrooms and writing Courses up to Degree level.
Arranged to do a PhD in Photography but in the end decided it was too expensive and was really a vanity project.
Got divorced, went blind, got most of my sight back, sobered up, took a lot fewer pictures and started thinking about the Philosophy of Photography - amongst other things.
I don't do weddings or take part in sports.
Have plagued this place for years, gone to several meet-ups and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that I have a bizarre sense of humour (anyone here remember Avis?).

If you want to know my vital statistics or hear anecdotes from my life then send money etc.

Sign me up for anecdotes, tall tales and sundry such, as for money alias I’m but a poor failed artist lacking such funds to expend on these things.

Oh and welcome back.

Holy crap! I don't believe it!

I demand confirmation from Avis, or you shall likely face an immediate ban.

Just checking in to see how the old place is.
I'm not a fan of the carpet and the sofas are uncomfortable.
The condition of the carpet can be traced directly back to you - you refused to remove your muddy shoes, ashamed of your threadbare socks, I believe. We're still living with the stains.

Well, paint me blue and call me quincy!
How have you been keeping, T? Hope you are well.

And if there is mud on the carpet it can't be me - I neither wear shoes nor socks. Too difficult for me to put on these days.

PS Haven't been in contact with Avis for years. Last I heard he got a job teaching at a girls' school in Italy and was later sacked. Something to do with fiddling the finances. But then, he always was a big fan of Vivaldi.

I'm keeping very well, thank you. Flitting in and out but still shooting as time allows. No darkroom these days, although the enlarger, etc., is safe in the basement. But as most of my favorite papers for the stuff I like to do have long vanished, it's not a problem.

Hope you are staying well, albeit barefoot. Not causing too much trouble?

Just an update. Well, a boast, really.
Any Brits here remember Spitting Image?
In the 80's I photographed them working. There is a large archive of Spits memorabilia in the Cambridge University Library and they are going to include my negs in the collection.
: )

Nice! Congrats on the recognition!
