It's been a while..

Hey everyone. It's been a long time since I've been logged in here. I havn't been able to get out and try my hand at progressing in photography much the past 6 months or so. But I was wondering if I could get any critique and criticism on these two photos. They are nothing special but it's the best I am able to do thus far. I know it's obvious I'm a beginner with no natural talent popping out but it's easier for me to help learn and correct my mistakes with some outside help. Much appreciated and have a great holiday season! BTW I am now aware of the little dust or whatever in the top portion of my pictures.

I'd keep the first one in color, its hard to tell if its a beach with sand, or snow. But its a great start!
