Picture sizes

Since the bulk of my interest sides with the content not the presentation of the photograph, the frame is of little concern to me.

However, I enjoy the craftmanship of the Framemakers art. Especially those found on high dollar European paintings. "Fine Art deserves a fine frame" may be true, but "fine" is only an opinion.

The photos I hang on the wall, are usually in a simple frame and a white background. A photo with special significance, usually gets a frame and backing board upgrade.

I actually founded Frame Destination 20 years ago due to the lack of picture frames in the new sizes I ended up printing when Epson came out with a great archival printer. In general mats can be used to adapt an image size to more standard frame size. It can allow the frame to better protect the image since it will keep it off the glass assuming it is an archival mat. The mat adds cost though especially since the picture frame will be larger with the mat.

@RacePhoto I've done this with old frames on occasion, but of late I tend to use 11x14 plain black gallery style frames from Walmart $9 plus tax, even cheaper if you buy them in packs. Includes a white precut 8x10 mat or throw out the mat and you have an 11x14. Makes it easier to rotate out my wall hangers. Poster board doesn't qualify as archival. LOL Hobby Lobby has some standard precut mats in various colors pretty cheap, if I need something special, I buy a full sheet and cut my own. I bought one of these several years ago when it was cheaper that works well for me with a straight edge. Amazon.com
I was just thinking. Problem with say Wal Mart frames is the corner's don't seem to be glued on any of them. Also, they usually don't have wire hanger's.
