They were beautiful and strongly built dogs ...

but many of them were quite unruly and difficult to handle.

This pooch almost bit the judge.

Gardena ... (yes, Gardena ...)

There were people from Japan. Korea, San Francisco ... all over and they hold the event in Gardena? (I'm gonna have a chat with the board on choice of venue.)

Japanese Akitas look quite different than the Akita my aunt and uncle own. I think it's the eyes and the colors have a lot to do with it for me, too. Very powerful dogs but so lovable and sweet. This is the only coloring I've ever seen on an Akita (pictures from Google image search)
