jewelery photography

A friend asked me to take some jewelery shots for her. I'd never done this and thought I might be able to get some nice ones and good practice.

I used a softbox above and to left of camera with the jewelery in a small lightbox bought for £10 from maplin.

I thought they rurned out well for a first try at this for me.

Jols, keeping in mind that this is my VERY FIRST attempt at this and given more than 10 min to do this, I could do better, but for waht it's worth, here you go:

First attempt, little prep, obviously poor example.

The setup used for this and the next pic:

Last try before me needing to leave. It is better, but not what I would call ready. Given another 30 min and a few more test shots, I could do better... but at least this gives you a thought or 2?:

Ten minutes, 5 shots total. Newbie attempt but hey, I had fun!

I think you need to give it more light. Did you use a meter?

Nope, with 10 min time, I chimped 1 pic, came close and left it at. I was aware that I could do better given another 30 min.

If I had to guess, the light put out about an F/5.6 and I had the aperture at over 7 or more. Light was low, I was aware of that.
