John Deere 95 still cutting strong!

My brother just bought this 1958 John Deere 95 a few months ago. After only a little bit of work, it is running and cutting like a champ!
We took it over to a friends today and tuned it in and cut around 3 acres of wheat, out of their 900 acres.

#4 This was way out of my range, and I was shooting from a pickup bouncing through a field, so crummy shot. But this is their rig, It is a little bigger! LOL

I forgot, there was one problem, on the way home the door fell off!My brother managed to catch it while driving, so the door didn't get broken.

10' swather? Nice looking unit... they're normally strong runners, but when something does go wrong, chance are it will be spectacular!! They're also sons'a'<female dogs> to work on.

Combine with a 17' header, and 15' cut. The biggest breakdown worry is one of those $250+ main belts. I have done some work on combines. Last fall I did a lot of brazing and welding patch up on the elevator and auger housings of my bosses combine, and they are a bear to work on!

17'? Damn... that's bigger than I thought.

The engine only puts out around 72hp, and it handle this 70 bushel to acre wheat great! Old horsepower has more kick, than new horsepower.

When I was a kid they cut at the end of June through the beginning of July. But this new wheat is ready at the beginning of June, now it is easier for the farmers a double crop with beans. But this earlier wheat does get frosted more often.

I hate how new engine have to be wrapped up so high in order to get anything out of them, it drives me crazy!
