I;m helping out a junior football team this season, here are a few from the game today. All shot with a Canon Rebel T2i 300.2.8 and 1.4ext.

How do you like that 1.4x extender? I am really thinking about one for football this year.

The 1.4 is great, I've had this one for 12 years and still sharp. The 2x isn't very good, never has been, another one of Canon's not so brilliant moments. I just ordered a 5D mklll,(won't pay $8000 for a 1Dx) should be nice playing with this one. My 1D mkll shutter split in half last week, seems that I hit the magic frame number again, second shutter to explode. I dug out one of my old 1D bodies as a backup for the t2i, which just doesn't sound right. Paid 10k for the 1D when I bought it and $600 for the t2i, but then it isn't the camera, but the holder.

Those players are Junior??? Not jr high or kids. I'm assuming a local men's league?

They are all between 17-19 years old. Some go from here to University ball or into the pro leagues.

Great pics....I have a Sigma 70-200 2.8 and thought about get an extension. Our games are later in the evening with not so great lights. Would I be wasting my money?

Not sure of the lights I have seen bad and good but the 2.8 is real nice.

All depends on the lights, but 2.8 is always going to be a useful lens to have. My next three home games are all in the evening, should be a little more of a challenge, although I should have the 5D mklll to use by then.

I REALLY want the 5d3. I really don't care for the 5d2. I have started streamlining and getting rid of stuff in order to get there, but I don't think that is in the cards YET... Maybe after the beginning of the year a little. I'd LOVE to have the 1DX DEFINITELY not going to happen here. Or just to play with it would make me happy!

I have heard that regarding the 1.4x vs the 2x. I would LOVE to have the added reach of the 2x but it just doesn't seem like it's worth it. I know there are some compatibility issues with the TC's and that's my next bit of research.

I never did buy a 2x, I talked it over years ago with some other photographers and they all said the same thing, it just isn't sharp. I just couldn't justify buying a 1Dx, I really don't know what Canon is thinking. The Nikon D4 is a better camera(in my opinion), and is close to a $1000 less. If I had the same Nikon glass that I do in Canon glass I would have bit the bullet and gone with the D4.

I am thanking God they got their sh!t in better order with the 5d3 because if they hadn't I was really thinking about selling off and switching. I am brand loyal because I am invested. I was getting pretty disgusted with it till now!
