thanks! i was really trying to avoid that reflection in the eyes but yeah. I was told that the eyes of jumpers are deep red to orange even, so here is another one with the same spider but a different angle

you can try shooting insects with off camera flash devices and small softboxes for a more sharper image and more background separation. just a tip

I love the shot of the jumper on the finger.. gives a sense of scale... very nice.

Thanks for the tip, Dexter. I usually use either one or two SB-900 flashes with either small softbox diffusers on them, or a mix of that and a bounce card, mounted on a Kirk Ent. bracket. I also sometimes use a Metz 15 MS-1 that mounts to the end of my lens. Lighting is everything!
