What's new

just a dog OOF

it is all new equipment so i am at a loss as to why it was so bad

I believe th eshutter speed was 320 but I was in a van with the side door open and in motion. a few mph

it was F5.6 1/1000 iso3200 375mm, going by these settings you must have just started photography

The problem could be one of multiple options - take the suggested test shots and we can work from there. At present the single photo just isn't enough to work with to judge

Poor quality unless it has been blown up greatly

I'm still saying motion blur. Probably had it on one shot instead of AI servo and locked in the focus and the car was still moving. Give us a fighting chance and take a picture while you're standing still. Trying to figure this photo out when you took it from a moving car is pointless.

Well, that's not motion blur, that's missing focus. As long as the subject is more than a few feet away, 1/1000 is sufficient to take pictures while driving down the interstate.

okay.

I am new and had just came out of the woods and was leaving and the boys wanted a shot of the dog and I noticed the OOF. I found out how to get exif off of photos here so that will help me learn alot. plus all the reading I do. thnx for the input

I got it cleaned and it workss fine now

Glad to hear that too - out of interest when you cleaned the lens did you clean just the front element or the rear one as well? Rear element stains will generally show up a lot more than front element ones - however the rear of the lens (ie the part that connects to the camera) should never need cleaning aside from occasionally using a blower to puff out some dust particles).
