I just bought a nikon 17-35mm 2.8 on the weekend for a wedding
coming up in 2 wks so i tried it on the weekend. As i am always using my trusty 50mm 1.4 with portraits, im finding it hard to use this new lense and not sure what kind of photos would be used for this lense at the wedding. Im still so new to all this. Could someone please enlighten me...im already nervous as it is with this wedding coming up.

thanks

It's a wide lens. Wide lenses do not make flattering up close portraits as they make the face look all nosey. Ok, that didn't make sense really. They're not good at in yer face portraits as they make the face look round and the nose bigger.

You'd use that lens for the horizontal aspect group shots only, stick with your 50mm for the portraits. Avoid any straight lines in the picture (especially at the edges), it'll probably bend them.
