This is my first build, so please do not make any remarks on what I could have done better.
I had a budget of $1000 but chose to spend $460 on my entire build.

Yes, I know I could have gotten more RAM or a better processor or a seperate SSD but I didn't want to.
I am a serious amateur aspiring to be a professional photog one day.
So I thought this would be a good starting point.

MB ASROCK/B75 PRO-3
PSU Corsair/430W CX430
MEM 4Gx2/Corsair
HDD 1T/WD
CPU i3 3220
OS Win 7 64bit
*I forgot what my graphics card was..
All in a beautiful NZXT black source case.

I am now looking for a good monitor.

I was looking at the ASUS PROART series monitors but I want to know what you guys would suggest.
My budget is $350

Adobe recommends as a minimum, a display capable of displaying 16-bit depth color, and 1 GB of VRAM is recommended.
I don't know of any displays anywhere near $350 that have that capability.
The Asus PA2456Q is only 10-bit.

Whichever display you choose will need to be routinely re-calibrated. Recalibration is usually done monthly, if the ambient light falling on the display has changed, or immediately preceding a critical editing job.
I regularly re-calibrate my display every new moon, or at least13 times a year.

I just built one myself. My old one had Win 32 bit and 4GB of RAM. In Photoshop I would always run out of RAM.
So the new one is Win 7 64bit with 32GB RAM. No problems with memory now. I hope yours has room to add.
