That is the one I have. When walking around with the camera, I unsnap the front snap and flip the case over and back. It doesn't bother me when shooting to have the case hanging. For video, I use the strap pulled out taut to stabilize the shot. (Like a tripod) One time the center bolt was loose and almost dropped the camera. Maybe I didn't tighten it when I changed batteries, but I check it often out of habit.

2 Sony RX100s, Canon, the new used Fuji, an action waterproof Fuji, GoPro and 2 old Sony HD tape camcorders. And an ancient Sony SD tape camcorder. There was an old Nikon that the daughter has now. Too many menu systems! Some are for time-lapse and video. Different tool for different situations.

Good luck with the camera. I have the RX100iv with the aforementioned case. When I'm on vacation and walking around, it's handy to have it hanging from a neck strap without the rest of the case. Here's some photos and video I took in April on a road trip to the national parks in the USA Southwest. I've made some 4K video slide shows of my vacation that I play on my 4K UHDTV. The camera does a really superb job with both videos and photos.

Wow, those are some awesome photos. Any tips for setting the camera up? Metering mode, auto focus, etc.?

The model vi is different than the iv. iv has a shorter zoom and its aperture is faster. So camera shake is a bigger problem I would imagine on the vi. Also, the iv has an integrated ND filter for video; the vi doesn;t. So where I set up my shutter speed at the recommended double the frames per second (1/60 for 4K 30p), I needed the iv's built in ND filter to darken the over bright lighting. I don;t know how people handle that situation in the vi since it has no ND filter. Maybe someone else can jump in here. These things effect how you set up things.

Also, what kind of shots (people, landscape, etc) you are going to take and what you do with the final results - print, internet, display of UHDTV etc. That's going to effect the aperture and shutter speeds as well. There are memory modes on both cameras for this purpose. I will say this. The camera does a fine job in P mode if you get stuck not knowing where you want to set things up on your own. I'm never embarrassed by P mode, rarely use manual mode and will selectively use A or S mode depending on if I want deep DOF or am dealing with a needed high or low shutter speed.

What I did do when I first got it was spend the time to go through all the settings and the instruction manual, quite laborious but worth it. I also tried different settings and tried videos and photos at home before I went on the trip. I also read and watched on the internet how others set things up to gain from their experience and knowledge. (Make sure you watch the ones for the model vi not the other earlier models.) Trying to figure out these things on vacation isn't the time to do it. Of course, you can always fall back to P mode.
